Fuqua Goes From 2018 Winner's Circle to 1930s Show Ring Set
KAT DEBUTS AS HERSELF AS FAMOUS EQUINE CHAMPION IN BILLY & BLAZE
The unexpected opportunity all started, as they say in the movies, "overnight" when in the Fall of 2018, Associate Producer of the Billy & Blaze movie, Pat Hommel contacted Kat's mom. "I had been telling my good friend (Olympian) Lendon Gray about the film and she suggested I call the Fuqua Family if we were looking for a good girl rider," said Pat. "Lendon said they are an equestrian family whose daughter, Kat is one of the top young riders in the country." And the call was made. It did not take long after contract negotiations with attorneys were finalized that Finesse RF & Kat traveled to the movie set of the historic horse show grounds in Warrenton, VA.
"I can't believe I got to be part of the movie. I always wanted a part in my school drama class, but my teacher never picked me. I guess it was because I had to take time off for horse showing," Kat declares in great excitement! "The other unbelievable part, is that I was between showing at indoors. I usually have no time for other activities. It was so cool because several weeks later Cyndi, the Producer, called me back to shoot some more in Waynesboro, VA, three days before I won the Washington International Horse Show. It is all just a dream!"
"Directing Kat Fuqua in the Billy & Blaze production was a joy I hope to repeat. Not only did she concentrate on doing her best, but it was always evident that she was aware of being part of the team. Her concern for the others in the cast was as beautiful as her lovely face." Cynthia Rogers Erkel, Producer Billy & Blaze Film Partners.
"I was amazed when I discovered that Banbury Cross Abu, who plays Blaze, is from the same sire as Kat's Champion Pony Finesse RF. The children in this movie will just win your hearts!"
The Billy & Blaze movie is currently in post production and is expected to be released in 2019.
