KAT FUQUA CONCLUDES HER CHILDREN'S HUNTER DIVISION CAREER
October 24, 2017

Kat Fuqua concludes her Children's Hunter Division Career winning Third at the National American League Children's Hunter Final Championship held at Pennsylvania National Horse Show. The final accepted the top 30 Horses in the division in the country. Kat and High Noon 3E (Hippo) came into the championship placed 19th. They won the first round with the lead score of 87. Last to go in the final round, Hippo made a small technical mistake scoring an 80 and ending the Final in Third.

"I am so happy to walk away in 3rd place overall, although I am disappointed. Actually Hippo was spooking at the tv monitors in the warm up and running sideways. My trainer Jenny Darst told me our goal will be to make it through. So I am very happy! Hippo is my first horse to ride ever when I trained with Liz Reilly at WEF who found him for me in February. So I am very grateful to both trainers to get me this far in eight months. I will continue on starting the Junior Division next month. Hippo gave me a championship at the Jr 3'3" at my first Junior showing last month in Atlanta. I am so proud of Hippo, and my show grooms Pepe and Chico, who make it all happen!"
KAT GOES TO THE BIG APPLE TO SHOOT WITH ICONIC FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER PATRICE CASANOVA
October 6, 2017

Being on the streets of Manhattan with people watching me pose in front of a camera, made me feel special. It was kind of weird to go somewhere without my horses but really a lot of fun. My favorite place to visit was Central Park where I met Clarence who pulled our carriage touring through the Park. I brought him apples!

KAT RIDING THE TOP OF THE WAVES
June 20, 2017

I wanted to jump out and pet them" said Kat of her first experience seeing wild Dolphins jumping over the waves at the stern of the boat in Pensacola Bay. She showed 2 weekends starting June 9th with Elite Show Jumping at Escambia Equestrian Center in Florida and taking advantage of the local scenery. " I had a great first time at Pensacola and very proud of my ponies winning ten Division Championships , two Reserve Champions and two classic Pony Champions in total. It is a good show for everyone to attend and I'm glad I listened to my trainer Jenny Darst of Atlanta" said Kat Fuqua of Collecting Gaits Farm in Atlanta.

KAT'S MOST EXCITING WIN TO DATE IS DEVON BLUE
June 9, 2017

Blue at Devon is rare for the top 30 qualified competitors in the country for the Pony Hunter Divisions. Kat is so happy to qualify two of her ponies, Goldhill's Arresting Charm in the Small Division and Captain America in the Medium Divison for the Annual Devon Horse Show and Country Fair Where Champions Meet held the last weekend of May.

Kat ribboned on both ponies with an ecstatic First on Captain America in the $2500 Medium Pony Over Fences Confirmation, Eighth in the Model, & Reserve in the Under Saddle and Reserve in the Hunter Stake."Charm" placed 4th in the $2500 Small Pony Hunter Over Fences, and 6th in the $3000 Pony Hunter Stake.

I was very nervous going into Devon because I wanted to win. I was in shock for like ten minutes. "Nacho" knew he won because he put his ears forward and he doesn't normally do that for the photos. Next year I want to try and get a Champion or Reserve Champion. Now I'm going back home to Atlanta to train for Pony Finals in August.

FUQUA HITS HER STRIDE
April 13, 2017

Written by: Holy Innocents' Episcopal School

Third grader Kat Fuqua is working hard at becoming one of the top competitive pony riders in the country, while balancing the demands of being a student in the Lower School.

By all accounts, Kat seems to be taking everything in stride as she gallops toward her goals, both on the course and in the classroom--with the guidance and support of the Holy Innocents' Episcopal School community.

Kat recently won the Animo Medium Pony Hunter division at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Fla.

"My teacher, Ms. [Krista] Schick, has really helped me balance everything," Kat said. "On Mondays, everyone in my class seems very interested and excited about how I showed over the weekends. It makes me feel good."

Kat's mother, Shereen Fuqua, echoes her daughter's sentiment about how much she appreciates having the support of the HIES community while Kat pursues her goals off-campus.

"I want Kat to have a regular school experience with a top private school," she said. "Holy Innocents' is the best choice for our daughter, who has been in attendance for five years."

KAT IS EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE HER NEW PARTNERSHIP WITH F.LLI FABBRI!
February 25, 2017

Fabbri boots have been handcrafted in Italy since 1924, using only the highest quality natural leather to create a boot that molds perfectly to the rider's foot and leg. These boots are made from exclusively Italian materials, and every step of the manufacturing process takes place at a single location, ensuring the highest quality of craftsmanship.

Kat has ridden in many different boots, and none have come close to the quality of Fabbri. She loves the softness and suppleness of the leather as well as how securely they hold her legs in place on her ponies and her new horse, helping her feel more confident in legging them where she wants them to go! Since she started riding in these boots, she has already won two pony derbies and four championship titles halfway through the WEF season. Thank you F.lli Fabbri!
