A Different Path
Kat Fuqua is a FEI Grand Prix dressage and FEI Grand Prix show jumping athlete recognized for exceptional versatility across disciplines. By the age of 18, she has competed over 5,000 times, developed and ridden more than 100 horses, and earned multiple national and international titles across hunters, dressage, and show jumping.
She began her career in the hunter divisions, winning her first national title at the US Pony Finals at age 10 and going on to earn nine United States Equestrian Federation Horse of the Year awards, along with Grand Championships at premier competitions including Wellington, Devon, Pennsylvania National, Washington International and The National Horse Show.
Expanding beyond hunters, Kat transitioned into dressage and show jumping, quickly establishing herself at the international level. She has represented the United States in multiple European and FEI competitions, earning four gold, one silver, and four bronze FEI medals, and competing on Nations Cup teams. In 2024, she represented the U.S. at CHIO Aachen, placing fifth in youth dressage competition.
Based between the United States and Europe, Kat trains and competes across both dressage and show jumping, including CSI competitions in Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium. She has competed at Grand Prix level in both disciplines—dressage by age 16 and show jumping by age 15—continuing to develop horses and compete against professional fields.
Her approach is rooted in long-term development rather than short-term results. She trains her own horses, building them from the ground up, and competes ahead of her age group with a focus on consistency, resilience, and progression at the highest level of the sport. A recipient of the USET Lionel Guerrand-Hermès Trophy, awarded to a youth rider across FEI disciplines with Olympic potential, Kat represents a new generation of equestrian athlete—combining performance, discipline, and depth across multiple arenas. She remains steadfast on her goal to represent her country and compete in the most pinnacle sporting event in the world, The Olympics.

“Cross Training…Jumping makes my dressage horses forward going and sitting like lifting up to a jump…Dressage makes my jumpers straight yet bending and more relaxed over their back, for a soft collection in an extended canter over the jump.” KAT says.
